Feather Jewelry Extensions

Today's modern feather jewelry is a testimony to the sacred meaning of the feathers in the American Indian culture. As in most cultures, jewelry made by feathers is worn to symbolize the wearer's power, whether it is wealth or victory in battle. The styles and types of feather jewelry changes greatly from island to island, as does the purpose of wearing it.

Jeweler from feather is a different art of modern fashion. It is very gorgeous and unique product. It looks very attractive also. Feather Jewelry is a small decorative item worn for personal adornment, such as brooches, rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets. Jewelry may be attached to the body or the clothes, and the term is restricted to durable ornaments, excluding flowers for example. Feathers are one of the epidermal growths that form the distinctive outer covering, or plumage, on birds and some non-avian thereof dinosaurs. They are considered the most complex integumentary structures found in vertebrates, and indeed a premier example of a complex evolutionary novelty. They are among the characteristics that distinguish the extant Aves from other living groups. Feathers have also been noticed in those Theropoda which have been termed feathered dinosaurs. There are two basic types of feather: vane feathers which cover the exterior of the body, and down feathers which are underneath the vane feathers. Feathers insulate birds from water and cold temperatures. They may also be plucked to line the nest and provide insulation to the eggs and young. The individual feathers in the wings and tail play important roles in controlling flight. Some species have a crest of feathers on their heads. The colors of feather extensions are produced by pigments, by microscopic structures that can refract, reflect, or scatter selected wavelengths of light, or by a combination of both.

Most feather pigments are melanin’s (brown and beige pheomelanins, black and grey eumelanins) and carotenoids (red, yellow, orange) etc. Although feathers cover most parts of the body of birds, they arise only from certain well-defined tracts on the skin. They aid in flight, thermal insulation, waterproofing, and coloration that helps in communication and protection.
